Wheel ALIGNMENT

Wheel alignments are a particularly important step in overall tire and
wheel maintenance. The purpose of a wheel alignment is to ensure your
tires are pointing straight ahead, perpendicular to the ground, and
parallel to each other so they roll at the right angle. Properly aligned
tires will help you get the most out of your tires, and vehicle
handling will feel considerably easier.

Routine
wheel alignments have the potential to save you money in the long run
while promoting optimal vehicle performance. When your tire alignment is off, your ability to drive safely is compromised. Sometimes, unaligned wheels can be obvious – your car pulls to one side of the road or your steering wheel has a vibration in it. In some cases, it can be subtle and the driver won’t even notice. That’s why regular tire alignment checkups are a must-do. Visit us at Wichita Tire & Alignment and our alignment experts will take a look.
Our technicians know how to keep your car running straight and smooth.

Wheel Balancing

Imperfections, blemishes in the rubber, and damage to a tire or rim
can throw a wheel “out of balance.” That means that one section of the
tire or rim is heavier. When that’s the case, the tire can wobble or
even hop as it rolls down the road. That effect often can be heard, as
well as felt in the steering wheel.

To balance a tire, we use computerized equipment that identifies
where wheel weights should be applied to the rim. Those weights are used
to counter-balance any heavy spots.  See diagram below.

You should have your wheels balanced any time your tires are repaired or rotated.

BRAKE Services

A fully functioning brake system is crucial to your safety, the safety
of your passengers, and the safety of other drivers on the road. If your brakes squeal or grind when in use, your brake pads may be
worn and require replacement. If your vehicle pulls to one side when
braking, then this may point to worn brakes, a malfunctioning caliper,
or low brake fluid in the brake lines. If your brake pedal presses down
too easily—also known as “spongy” brakes—then this may be an indication
of too much air in the hydraulic brake lines.

While these are only some
of the most common signs of potential problems with your vehicle’s
brake system, noticing these signs of faulty brakes and seeking out a
brake service can save you money down the line. Our staff is trained in
maintaining and servicing front and rear brake systems and all
accompanying brake system components like brake pads, brake shoes,
parking brakes, rotors, drums, and hydraulic systems. If you experience
any of the above signs or symptoms of bad brakes, contact us online or call us today to have
your brakes inspected immediately.

Our brake services include brake inspection, brake rotor replacement, front disc brake repair, rear disc brake repair, rear drum brake repair, and parking brake adjustment.

Suspension (Shocks & Struts)

Your suspension system helps you stay in control when you’re on the road. If your vehicle dips or rocks when you go over bumps, it may be time to replace your shocks or struts. Whether
your car or truck has shock absorbers or a struts (typical
in many front-wheel-drive cars), Wichita Tire & Alignment car
suspension know-how to diagnose and repair any problem and get you back
on the road with a smooth ride.

Shocks and Struts Warning Signs

  • Shock or strut bodies are dented or damaged
  • Mounts or bushings are broken or worn

  • Vehicle sways or leans on turn
  • Vehicle “nose dives” when you apply the brakes
  • Excessive bouncing after hitting a road bump
  • Harsh, bumpy or shaky ride
